Battlefield Bad Company 2 Review

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is an incredible game that learns from its predecessors. The series takes it to the next level with its destructible terrains and the ability to mount different types of vehicles. There is not much competition when it comes to a large scale multiplayer with actual destroyable environments. This is not a small pipe line busting open or a wall being cracked. The game brings bad ass destruction with an environment that transforms into a destroyed level by the end of a match.

Final Finatasy XIV Beta Announced

It’s time to start stalking your emails like a crack head smokes his rocks. Final Fantasy XIV Beta has been announced and it is scheduled to start March 11, 2010. This is huge news straight out of Vanafest. All members who attended Vanafest received invites into Alpha and Beta starting today. You can just imagine the excitement that hit the 1000 Final Fantasy XI players that were invited to this event in Japan. The creators of the game also stressed to not worry, if you don’t get into Beta it will eventually happen. They repeated again that everyone will be given an opportunity to get into Beta. With the start of Beta this March it looks like the game will be released Fall of 2010 baring any unusual set backs. Check back later for more information on Final Fantasy XIV Beta.

VanaFest is primarily a Final Fantasy 11 fan fare, but their has been big rumors of news about Final Fantasy XIV to be released as the fesival nears. Around the net millions of Final Fantasy fans are waiting for Sunday to recieve this mysterious rumor. There hasn't been any real news on Final Fantasy XIV since the middle of December. However, there is talk of a Beta announcement coming soon as the game is trying very hard to be released before the end of 2010. Blizzard Entertainment announced today that the closed beta test for its highly anticipated real-time strategy game, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, has begun. Thousands of lucky gamers from around the world have received e-mail invitations from the company to participate in the first phase of the beta test.

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is the sequel to Blizzard Entertainment's 1998 hit StarCraft, which has been hailed by players and critics worldwide as one of the top real-time strategy games of all time. Sporting a vibrant new 3D-graphics engine, StarCraft II will once again center on the clash between the protoss, terrans, and zerg, with each side deploying legions of veteran, upgraded, and brand-new unit types. The game will release only one race to start and than release 2 different expansions for the other two races. The multiplayer will feature all 3 races right from the start. Ubisoft has announced its next installment in the Ghost Recon series. The game has been trade marked Ghost Recon:Future Soldier. In the games first trailer the definition of a future soldier is a F-16 with legs! The game is being hyped to have a state of the art multiplayer and single player game modes.

Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders for Final Fantasy XIV for the Xbox 360. Do they know something that we don't? Is it a mistake? No official word has been release as of yet, so only time will tell if FFXIV makes it way to the Xbox 360. Final Fantasy XIV is scheduled to be released for PS3 and PC some time this year. It has been mention in more than a few articles that Final Fantasy XIV has been in negotiations with Xbox360 to bring the game their way. The sun is definitely starting to get a lot brighter for Xbox 360 fans, now that Amazon is taking pre- orders for Final Fantasy XIV.

EA Predicts Super Bowl

EA's prediction was correct and now the New Orleans Saints are Super Bowl Champions. EA has made predictions 7 times for the NFL's most honored game. Super Bowl XLIV was the 6th Super Bowl they have predicted, out of 7 tries. The only one that was actually incorrect happen in 2008. It's stunning that a simulation football game has been this accurate. This definitely gives EA some credit for creating sports games as realistic as possible and also keeping up with their games with great updates.

Xbox Live cuts its power on original Xbox console

Microsoft is pulling the plug on Xbox Live for the original Xbox console. Microsoft has stopped making the older Xbox back in 2008. They are pretty much urging all of their customers to upgrade to Xbox 360 or be left without the lights on. April 15, 2010 is the day that online game play for the original Xbox console will cease to exist.

Final Fantasy XIII is scheduled for release as 3 disc set for the Xbox 360. This not a surprise as a game the size of Final Fantasy XIII is almost automatic for a system that uses DVDs as its format. Multiple disc games have not hurt the sales of 360 games vs PS3 Blue-ray. Fan boys are the only ones that usually even make this an issue.

Apple has finally announced its newest device the iPad, which has been the industries worst kept secret for the last few months. The iPad is basically an iphone, but blown up into a tablet like feel. The iPad is a portable web browser with added functionality. The main reason to buy an iPad would be to surf the net like no other device on the market because of its huge screen compared to the iPhone and multi-touch functionality.

The phone features a finger print resistant 9.7 inch LED backlit screen with a resolution of 1024x768. The device will include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G data connection for surfing the net. The iPad will have an accelerometer so that the screen can turn side ways just like the iPhone. The phenomenal half-inch thick device can be held in one hand and is ultra thin.

Final Fantasy XIII "The Crystalium System"

1up is currently reporting that Finial Fantasy XIII will feature its own unique version of a character development system. The games development process will go by the name of the Crystalium System. The Crystalium System will replace the usual flow of experience points and level growth. Crystal points will replace experience points when defeating monsters. The system will work by characters gaining crystal points and being able to exchange them for new spells and abilities. Depending on what path of spells you unlock will then lead you into more enhanced spells like Firga. The more spells you unlock the stronger you will become and so does the growth of your Final Fantasy XIII character.

Microsoft Shutting Down Rumors

Yesterday, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer responded to a question by saying Blue-ray would become an accessory to their system when they were talking about Xbox 360. Microsoft's PR department and other members inside of Microsoft have been quick to stop the rumors. They said that Steve was referring to PC, but that makes no sense to me. If any new information is ever talked about this subject I will be sure to post it here.

Xbox 360 to add Blue-ray?

Reports are coming out that Microsoft's Xbox 360 will have a Blue-ray drive soon. A representative has announced a statement, but no official word was has been released by Microsoft. Now that the HD war is over and Blue-ray has been declared the winner, Microsoft has little choice but to adapt Blue-ray. If Microsoft did start selling the Blue-ray drive it would most likely be an add-on to the system and not sold as one complete unit like the PS3. For 360 fan boys this is good news, but for gamers that have a PS3 or plan on buying one its irrelevant. Xbox 360 is now the priciest system on the market. It is hard to pick a 360 over a PS3 at the present time especially with the recent price cuts for the Wii and PS3. Unless a price cut comes soon for the Xbox 360, I see no reason why PS3 will not continue to lead the selling charts every month like they did in September.

There are ton of companies who will be showing their games there, but Square Enix all ready has Final Fantasy 13 & 14 on their list of games to be shown. Brutal Legend has some awesome cut scenes and Jack Black really brings this game to life. The games demo has a comical story attached to its impressive action of killing demons with a guitar and axe. Final Fantasy XIII has just been announced for a December 17, 2009 release date in Japan. Sony is also going to release a bundle for their new PS3 slim with Final Fantasy XIII. There is no official announcement on the release date in North America, but history shows that it should be out around Spring 2010. My guess is that an early release of Final Fantasy XIII would free up some resources and only add to a confident release of Final Fantasy XIV in 2010.

September 29, Aion will be released for the first time in North America after its much hyped and successful launch in Asia. Aion is a MMORPG that looks to put a challenge to the World of Warcraft’s kingdom in the MMO market on PC. In Aion your characters have wings and can fly for short periods of time. Aion is a great PvP game coming from reports out of Asia.
